Two Killed after 17-Year-Old Driver Runs Stop Sign on Melcher Road

DELANO, CA (August 11, 2022) – Saturday morning, Ray Segura and Fancy Renee Castro were pronounced dead following an auto collision on State Route 155.

The accident happened around 2:00 a.m., near the intersection of State Route 155 and Melcher Road on August 6th.

According to reports, the 17-year-old driver of a Dodge ran a stop sign for reasons unknown. As a result, the Dodge broadsided a Kia at the intersection.

The force of the impact caused both vehicles to leave the road before coming to a stop in a nearby dirt field. Paramedics arrived and pronounced the 33-year-old Kia driver, Segura, and his 31-year-old female passenger, Castro, dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the 17-year-old driver of the Dodge and two of his passengers suffered moderate to major injuries. Paramedics transported them to Kern Medical Center for further treatment.

At this time, Delano Officials continue to investigate the State Route 155 collision.
