DUI Suspect Apprehended Following Pursuit and Collision near Feather River Boulevard
OROVILLE, CA (September 22, 2023) – In the early hours of Tuesday morning, law enforcement apprehended Rawinder Kandola after a high-speed chase culminated in a DUI-related collision.
The incident transpired on September 19th, at approximately 12:15 a.m., when an observant officer noticed a Toyota vehicle dangerously close to colliding with a curb in the vicinity of Oro Dam Boulevard East and Feather River Boulevard.
According to reports, the officer initiated a pursuit as the Toyota, driven by Kandola, failed to comply with a traffic stop.
During the chase, Kandola disregarded several red traffic signals at excessive speeds. Eventually, the suspect lost control of his vehicle, resulting in a rear-end collision with an SUV near the intersection of Feather River Boulevard and Gold Dredger Drive. The Toyota came to a halt after colliding with a small tree and a nearby property.
Following the collision, officers took swift action, maintaining control of the situation by holding Kandola at gunpoint while requesting additional support. Ultimately, Rawinder Kandola was taken into custody. He was subsequently booked into Butte County Jail, facing charges related to DUI and attempting to evade law enforcement.
