55-Year-Old Pedestrian Killed in Traffic Accident on Baseline Road
PHOENIX, AZ (June 7, 2023) – Early Friday morning, police responded to a pedestrian accident that claimed the life of Randy Long. On June 2nd, at around 4:30 a.m., officers received a call involving a pedestrian on 52nd Avenue and Baseline Road. Upon arriving, the officers located 55-year-old Long with serious injuries. Authorities transported the victim to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and later died. Furthermore, the officers have learned that Long was crossing mid-block on Baseline Road near 52nd Avenue when he was struck. Meanwhile, the driver that struck Long remained at the scene and cooperated with the deputies. Consequently, the crash blocked the traffic flow in the area. At this time, it was unknown if speed or impairment played a role in the incident. Further investigation is still ongoing.Sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Randy Long.
