Cops in Hollywood were were on alert this week after a 25-year-old woman on the street in front of Paramount Pictures studios, nine blocks from the L.A. mayor's residence, was stabbed in what appears to us to be a random attack.

The violence on Melrose Avenue and Irving Boulevard (the mayor's street) was reported at 10 p.m. on Tuesday, according to the LAPD.

The department says the attack went down something like this:

… The victim was walking on the sidewalk in the area of Melrose Avenue and Irving Boulevard when a suspect described as a male White or light- complected Hispanic pushed the victim to the ground and stabbed her multiple times. The suspect then ran away and left her screaming for help.
