Bicycle Crash on Fortuna Road Kills 75-Year-Old Ramon Alvarez-Cerrillos

YUMA, AZ (October 20, 2021) – Ramon Alvarez-Cerrillos, 75, died last Sunday night after a collision while cycling along Fortuna Road.

Authorities received reports of the crash around 7:oo p.m., near the intersection of Fortuna Road and Mesa Del Sol. Dispatchers responded to the area shortly after.

According to police, one vehicle had managed to swerve to avoid colliding with the bicyclist. However, the red Polaris RZR traveling behind could not. 

The bicyclist, later identified as Ramon Alvarez-Cerrillos, of Yuma succumbed to his injuries at the Yuma Regional Medical Center. 

At this time, an investigation is still currently ongoing. An initial report has ruled out alcohol or drugs as a contributing factor in the fatal incident.
