31-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after DUI Accident near Indian School Road

PHOENIX, AZ (April 7, 2023) – Late Thursday night, Ramon Aaknes was killed in a DUI collision on 7th Avenue.

Police responded to the scene around 11:20 p.m., near Indian School Road after receiving multiple dispatch calls in the area.

According to reports, Aaknes crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with a truck. Upon impact, the driver and passenger inside the truck immediately fled the scene on foot.

Medical personnel arrived and transported 31-year-old Aaknes to a nearby hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Following preliminary duties, officers were able to locate the two suspects inside the truck who fled the scene. Crews then took the truck driver to a nearby hospital for further treatment. Officers will eventually book him into the Maricopa County Jail for DUI charges causing death.
