This strange weather year is continuing as rain was possible for the first full week of spring in Los Angeles.

We experienced one of the hottest Februaries on record. And a strong El Niño weather phenomenon didn't inundate us with storms, as some predicted.

Yet, as early spring is here, forecasters are calling for the possibility of rain today, tomorrow and Wednesday.

If it comes, it won't be much, however.

“There will be areas of drizzle or light rain developing after midnight for most all areas west of the mountains of L.A. and Ventura counties,” the National Weather Service said in a statement.

Federal forecasters say an upper-level low-pressure system will move down the Pacific coast and create on-shore flow, low clouds and, possibly, rain and drizzle.

Forecasters “would not be surprised if there was over a tenth of an inch in and around the San Gabriel foothills” by this afternoon, the NWS stated.

The greatest chance of showers was later today, following by “a slight chance of a few showers just about anywhere” Tuesday, the service said. There's also a slight chance of rain Wednesday, it said.

Private forecaster AccuWeather was more conservative about the possibility of rain. It called for “a possible shower in the mountain areas around the Los Angeles on Monday.”

High temperatures in the L.A. Basin for the next few days were expected to decrease by two to eight degrees from what we've seen recently, federal forecasters said.

Snow would be light, if any fell at all, the NWS said, with snow levels dropping to 3,800 feet by Wednesday, the NWS said.

Gusty winds were expected in local mountains and deserts, forecasters warned.

By Thursday we'll be looking at a warming trend with above-normal temperatures, federal forecasters said. (The normal high for this time of year is about 71.)

“Temperatures will likely be three to eight degrees above seasonal normal,” the service stated. “There is a chance temperatures will remain above normal” through the weekend.

That could add up to highs near 80 degrees.

That's good because April is upon us Friday. And April is Coachella season.
