41-Year-Old Woman Killed in Pedestrian Collision near Belmont Avenue

FRESNO, CA (January 19, 2022) – 41-year-old Rachel Westfall died Sunday night after a pedestrian collision on Highway 99.

The accident happened around 6:00 p.m., along Highway 99 near Belmont Avenue.

According to reports, Westfall was crossing the road and pulling a suitcase when a car hit her suitcase and spilled her things on the roadway. Minutes later, another vehicle struck Westfall causing fatal injuries.

At this time, authorities do not consider drugs, alcohol, or speed a factor in the collision. Although, reports indicate that the involved driver remained at the scene and cooperated with officials.

Moreover, California Highway Patrol closed off the surrounding area for a brief time and reopened around 7:50 p.m.

Fresno police continue to investigate the fatal pedestrian collision and will release updates once available.
