Traffic Collision on West Stuhr Road Left Female Passenger Dead

NEWMAN, CA (July 18, 2022) – A crash on Eastin Road left Rachel Norton injured and claimed the life of a passenger Friday morning.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred around 10:24 a.m. when a 2015 Toyota was stopped at West Stuhr Road.

However, it entered directly into the path of a Peterbilt tractor-trailer driven by 58-year-old Daniel Forte of Los Banos.

Investigators said the driver of the Toyota, 22-year-old Rachel Norton, sustained major injuries.

Unfortunately, Norton’s passenger died at the scene after suffering from fatal injuries.

Meanwhile, their identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.

Moreover, both directions of the roadway were temporarily shutdown to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties.

At this time, Newman Officials continue to investigate the fatal big-rig crash and will release more updates as they become available.
