He was once half of America's favorite happily married TV couple. Four decades later, Dick Van Dyke is one-quarter of a singing group, and while he won't be reuniting with Mary Tyler Moore, the '60s film and TV legend has signed on for a rare appearance at the Grammy Museum alongside his a cappella group, the Vantastix. The comic met the singers in a Malibu coffee shop in 2000, found he and they had much in common, and opted to team up to perform in benefits across the country. Van Dyke and his fellow vocalists– Eric Bradley, Bryan Chadima and Mike Mendyke– recently released a kids' album, Put on a Happy Face. The museum's executive director, Robert Santelli, hosts the evening, as Van Dyke not only sings but also offers memories and anecdotes of his long career. (We're hoping for a little soft-shoe, but we'd sure settle for a few tidbits on MTM.) The evening benefits the Midnight Mission and the Grammy Museum. This special appearance leads up to the Dec. 8 opening of Dick Van Dyke: Step in Time! A Musical Memoir, a career retrospective at the Geffen Playhouse.
