Movies at Hollywood Forever are great — if you're into crowd scenes. Those who like a bit less hubbub with their outdoor cinema would be wise to check out Long Beach's funky little Sunnyside Cemetery, which looks like a film set but is actually the real deal (and it's more than 100 years old). Long Beach Cinematheque will screen films there all summer long, but Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho (1960) may be your best bet for the classic scary-movie-in-a-cemetery experience. The suspense thriller was a trailblazer that still holds up — and you can see it in a creepy-cool venue for less than the price of a ticket at your local multiplex. BYO picnic or grab bites from the Lobos Truck. Lola's Outdoor Retro Cinema, Sunnyside Cemetery, 1095 E. Willow St., Long Beach; Fri, July 25, 8:30 p.m. (gates at 6:30 p.m.); $10, advance tickets online or at Lola's Mexican Cuisine, 2030 E. Fourth Street, cash only; night-of tickets may be available at gate, cash only. lbcinema.org.
