A massive, Project X-style teen party in Holmby Hills was busted by police over the weekend.

The Twitter account LAScanner reported that as many as 500 people gathered at a home in the 1300 block of Holmby Avenue Saturday night, drawing officers from across the LAPD's western divisions.

Arriving cops called for more backup and even …

… a helicopter unit above to deal with the young masses.

Subsequent reporting by the Los Angeles Times found that the festivities came to life about 10:30 p.m. after a party in nearby Beverly Hills had been shut down by police and revelers, using social media, swarmed an unoccupied Holmby Hills residence.

The paper says cops in riot gear showed up to the latter party and that kids “scattered” by “jumping from the second floor of the house” and running through a backyard next door.

There were several arrests, including some for pot possession.

LAist reported that a Twitter user named Shaakir Joyce took credit for drawing the masses and that he even claimed 1,600 people showed up. (The Twitter account cited has since disappeared).

LAPD Officer Ray Barron told the Times the West Los Angeles Divison of the LAPD was filled with worried parents:

Our lobby the next morning looked like a PTA meeting.
