All this month, certain LA-based restaurants will be donating their proceeds to Profits For Peace, a program that raises funds for the Program for Torture Victims. If you mention the Program for Torture Victims, or present a coupon at participating restaurants — Louise's Trattoria, Mo-Chica, Takami Sushi and Robata Restaurant, Good Girl Dinette, Chichen Itza and Pink's Hot Dogs, among others — a portion of their proceeds will go to the PTV for a day, a week, a month or a year.

Thousands of men and women from over 65 countries have escaped torture to start new beginnings in Los Angeles, including some of the Profits for Peace restaurateurs. “The Pink family traces its history back to Central Europe and Russia and immigrated in the early 1900's to the U.S. to escape the type of torture still inflicted on many others in the world today,” says Gloria Pink of Pink's Hot Dogs. Ricardo Zarate of Mo-Chica Restaurant adds, “I was very closely affected by war and torture. Program for Torture Victims helps people who came through that time.”

The Profits for Peace program lasts through the end of July. If you would like to donate directly, you can do so at the Program for Torture Victims website, or by mail, to 3655 Grand Ave, Suite 290, Los Angeles, CA, 90007.
