Two men, including professional skateboarder Edward Janow, were charged in connection with the theft of a part from the Porsche that actor Paul Walker died in last month.

The duo was identified as skater Edward Janow, 25, and his apparent friend Jameson Brooks Witty, 18. The L.A. County District Attorney's office announced today that each was hit with one count of suspicion of grand theft of personal property, a felony.

But wait, there's more, according to a D.A.'s statement:

Witty and Janow also are charged with two misdemeanor counts each of destroying evidence and resisting, obstructing and delaying a peace officer.

Prosecutors alleged that they were specifically warned by a sheriff's deputy not to take a piece of the 2005 Porsche Carrera GT in which Walker and friend Rodas died on the afternoon of Nov. 30.

Sheriff's officials allege that the suspects tailed a tow truck that night that was carting off remains of the car for further investigation. At a Valencia stoplight one suspect allegedly got out of his car, walked to the truck and nabbed one of the Porsche's two removable t-top roof pieces.

Someone with Witty's name posted a photo of just such a part on Instagram, and someone with Janow's name, in an account linked to Witty's Instagram page, boasted of just such a theft:

Welp going back to prison for a wile when I get home all over my love for a grate actor and inspiration the system is truly FUCKED.

A post by the Witty account stated:

Piece of Paul Walkers car, took it off a tow truck at a stop light.

He was expected in court Jan. 3, prosecutors said. Janow, who was out of state (the aforementioned Instagram account mentions a Tampa skate trip) was scheduled to surrender in Van Nuys court tomorrow.

If convicted, the two each face max sentences of four-and-a-half years behind bars, prosecutors said.

Walker, a 40-year-old star of the Fast and the Furious film franchise, died when the Porsche, being driven by Rodas, crashed and burned that Saturday. Rodas was also killed.
