63-Year-Old Victim Dead after Auto Collision near Elizabeth Norris Road

LAKE ISABELLA, CA (March 10, 2022) – Early Monday, Preston Cartwright III was killed in a solo-car crash on Highway 178.

According to California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred shortly after 3:40 a.m. on March 7th near Elizabeth Norris Road.

Cartwright was driving an eastbound 2002 Ford when he veered onto the dirt shoulder for reasons unknown. He then made an abrupt turn and lost control of the vehicle. The Ford then flipped over across the westbound lanes before traveling down an embankment.

Police said Cartwright, a 63-year-old Lake Isabella resident, was pronounced dead at the scene.

No further details regarding circumstances of the crash have been made public at this time. More information will be provided once made available.

Authorities closed the westbound lanes to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties before it was later reopened.
