Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle

Both of the comic legends have been the subject of recent headlines.

Chris Rock perhaps saved the Oscars from a death of boredom and disinterest on behalf of the American public when he was infamously slapped by Will Smith for making jokes about his wife Jada’s hair loss, implying she looked like GI Jane. Will Smith, who won the Best Actor Oscar that night, was later reprimanded by the Academy, receiving a 10-year ban on attending Academy events.

Rock is slated to have a performance on Netflix called Selective Outraged, to be aired live on March 4.

Dave Chappelle stirred plenty of controversy from his last few Netflix specials when some perceived his jokes to be anti-trans. Netflix employees later staged a walkout and protest of his content being on the platform at their Hollywood headquarters, which drew counter protests. During a subsequent performance at the Netflix is a Joke Festival, he was attacked on stage by an attendee, who in turn received a beatdown by Chappelle’s entourage and was prosecuted.

Chappelle recently hosted Saturday Night Live and delivered a 15-minute monologue where he addressed anti-Semitic comments made by Ye, the rapper formerly known as Kanye West, garnering uproarious laughter from the audience and some boos online.
