Street Racing Crash Left 3 Injured on Highway 99 in Modesto

MODESTO, CA (March 25, 2021) – Sunday afternoon, a pregnant woman was severely injured after a suspected street racing collision on Highway 99.

The crash happened around 3:55 p.m., just north of Crows Landing. Three cars were driving side by side in the northbound lanes: a Chevrolet Traverse SUV, a Toyota, and a Nissan.

An Infiniti and a BMW were closing in on them from behind. The Infiniti driver then attempted to pass between the Toyota and the Nissan, but struck both. The SUV was pushed off the highway before slamming through a fence and coming to a stop.

The pregnant woman operating the SUV was critically injured, but her unborn child was unharmed. As a precaution, her two children in the backseat were taken to the hospital.

Moreover, the other drivers involved suffered moderate injuries.

Authorities do not currently believe that drugs or alcohol were factors. However, an active investigation remains ongoing.
