The discovery was made in barren desert off the 15 freeway en route to Las Vegas. San Bernardino Sheriff's Cpl. Naquin tells the Weekly that “two confirmed grave sites” were being excavated today in Victorville:

He would confirm only that “at this point all we can say is there is more than one” body:

It's going to be a long arduous process. We need to make sure we get every bit of evidence excavated.

The find of “possible skeletal remains” was made by a motorcyclist about 10 a.m. Monday, the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner's office said in a statement today.

The bodies were located next to the 15 freeway, near Quarry Road, north of Stoddard Wells Road, authorities said.

Homicide and coroner's officials went there today to start digging and investigating, officials said.

The Sheriff-Coroner's office states:

Investigators believe they have located the remains of more than one person. It appears the remains have been there for an extended period of time. Age and gender are unknown pending examination by a forensic anthropologist.

Anyone with info about the bodies was asked to call detectives at 909-387-3589.
