It looks like a porn industry attorney is preparing to sue “individuals using the PornWikileaks website for illegal activity” after that site exposed the health records of the hundreds of the Valley's adult performers, according to a statement from the Free Speech Coaltion.

Lawyer Corey Silverstein is actively looking for porn stars (aren't we all, Charlie?) who have been damaged (that's like all of them … oh, wait) by the much-publicized leak.

FSC, the industry's lobbying arm, quotes Silverstein:

While I cannot discuss the specific nature of my clients' allegations and any action that is being prepared, it is important to note that this is not a simple free speech issue. The individuals running this website are allegedly intentionally and knowingly jeopardizing the safety and privacy of adult performers all over the world while purposely defaming them in the process. The website repeatedly refers to adult performers as 'pornographic whores' and 'Hookers' and even talks about specific adult performers 'degrading the whole family.' My clients cannot comprehend why the individuals running this website would want to intentionally cause so much potential harm.

Meanwhile, FSC also lashed out today against the leak, calling the act “potential extortion.”

The organization has to walk a fine line on the issue, as it supports the folks from which much of the info apparently came, the Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation (AIM).

The industry's in a mad battle over the possibility that condoms will be forced upon it by state authorities, and AIM provides the main alternative: Regular testing of performers, with results available online to producers.

Except that the database that adult filmmakers access has been apparently, er, spread out for all the world to see on PornWikileaks.

Our sister blog LA After Dark reported that some of the info, however, including addresses of porn stars, appeared to come from public documents.

In any case, the Free Speech Coalition has to come off sound pissed — it's the voice of Porn Valley — without seeming to, um, ream it's own, embattled STD testing system.

Here's what FSC executive director Diane Duke stated Friday:

Free Speech Coalition stands in opposition to the violations of performer privacy byPornWikileaks. This is not an issue of free speech; it is about violating the privacy of performers. It's about potential extortion and exposing performers to potential harassment, stalking and other criminal activities.
