Pollo a la Brasa, the great Peruvian wood-roasted chicken spot in Koreatown is, thankfully, getting some bigger digs. After years of having to fight for parking and tables to get a taste of those succulent, smokey birds, things are about to change. The adjacent lot has been torn down, and is currently a giant pile of dirt. We spoke to the owner's daughter Monica Maekawa (it is a family run business after all), who informed us that they are constructing a new building where the dirt is, with more seating and perhaps most importantly, an actual cooking area. “Right now,” she said, “we don't even have a kitchen.” But don't expect any new items to be added to their already perfect menu. “We have a big enough menu as it is.”

Once the new building is up, they will tear down the old one and turn it into a parking lot. They are shooting for construction to be finished by the end of the year, but in the meantime, the old building is still open for business.
