Police Officer Injured in Crash near Bonnyview

REDDING, CA (August 5, 2022) – Early Thursday morning, a policeman sustained injuries in a patrol car collision on the 5 Freeway.

The incident occurred at around 1:00 a.m., just north of the Bonnyview exit on Interstate 5.

According to reports, a male officer responding to a collision exited his vehicle to offer assistance. There, another vehicle lost control and hit the patrol car and the officer.

As a result of the crash, the officer sustained minor injuries but is now in stable condition.

Meanwhile, the 20-year-old driver of the car that struck the officer remained at the scene and cooperated with officials.

Redding authorities said intoxication did not play a role in the patrol car collision.
