Police on Thursday said they were looking into the possibility that the suspect in the brutal rape and murder of a pregnant woman in Venice could be linked to other crimes.

KNX 1070 Newsradio states that police are double checking unsolved crimes in the area to determine if the suspect, 22-year-old Boneetio Kentro Washington, might be linked to them. The radio station reported that the man came to the Los Angeles area from Rhode Island two years ago. Los Angeles police said he was a resident of nearby Culver City.

The crime happened about 10 p.m. Tuesday at 1660 Electric Avenue, just east of gentrified Abbot Kinney Boulevard, and just north of Venice Boulevard. KTLA News reports that the woman might have been taking groceries from her car to her duplex when she was attacked.

The 39-year-old woman, who has not been identified, was stabbed multiple times. She was about 18-weeks pregnant, police say, and the twins she was carrying also perished in the attack.

KTLA reports that a neighbor spotted the suspect going in the apartment and called police. When officers arrived the spotted the man fleeing and arrested him. The woman died at a hospital.

According to Fox 11 News, concerned neighbors at first thought all the police activity Tuesday was related to actor Elijah Woods, who is said to live in the area.
