Los Angeles police were gearing up today in case throngs showed up outside the Hayvenhurst Avenue compound of the Jackson clan in Encino to mark the one-year anniversary of Michael Jackson's death.

Officer Rosario Herrera said she couldn't confirm exact staffing numbers, but she did tell the Weekly, “We do have sufficient officers if we were to have a large crowd.” Jackson's mother and children still reportedly live at the San Fernando Valley home.

TMZ and Fox News reported that 40 extra officers were assigned to the area, that there would be parking restrictions and that vendors would not be able to sell M.J. merchandise near the home.

As we reported previously, demonstrators unhappy with the pace of justice in the manslaughter case against Jackson doctor Conrad Murray planned to march downtown Saturday, and a tribute show in the King of Pop's honor was planned for Saturday night at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
