Richmond will be providing a special menu from her Culver City mainstay Akasha and will be recognized for her continuous support of PPLA and Food Fare, which helps raise funds and awareness for the role it’s health centers play in the local community.

“I am so honored to be the 2020 Food Fare Chef of the Year,” Richmond said in a statement.  “I am a strong supporter of Planned Parenthood and all the work they do for our community and other cities across the country. My restaurant AKASHA has participated in the Food Fare for many years and we just love being involved in the annual event, which includes an incredible group of chefs and restaurateurs. When you give to Planned Parenthood, you really do ‘support the rights of everyone.’”

What originally started as a small cooking demonstration in 1979 by culinary icon Julia Child has now grown into an annual event bringing together the best of Los Angeles’ global food culture, and has become the organization’s largest fundraising event of the year with proceeds benefiting its vital health care and education programs. PPLA has raised essential funds through Food Fare to provide affordable,  non-judgmental, and confidential reproductive health care services to communities throughout Los Angeles County and annually raises over $1.3 million.

Individual tickets for Food Fare will be available beginning Monday, January 6, 2020 at pplafoodfare.com.
