8-Year-Old Dead, 12-Year-Old Injured in Car Accident on North Grand Avenue

WALNUT, CA (May 10, 2022) – 8-year-old Phillip Rosas was killed in a fiery collision on East Valley Boulevard, early Sunday morning.

The incident occurred around 1:50 a.m., near the intersection of East Valley Boulevard and North Grand Avenue.

According to reports, a vehicle occupied by four people was struck by another vehicle. The impact pushed one of the vehicles into a fire hydrant, shearing it off and catching fire.

Paramedics arrived and transported two children, ages 8 and 12, to a local hospital for further treatment. Due to the extent of injuries sustained, Rosas later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

In addition, the collision injured two other occupants. However, they did not require medical transportation.

Deputies said the driver of the other vehicle was arrested and is expected to face vehicular manslaughter charges. Although, authorities have not yet released their identity.
