Liz OhanesianIn a blog post last Saturday, promoter Sean Carnage announced that, due to a threat of closure of Echo Park art and music hub Pehrspace from the City, his popular Monday night shows will be changing locations, at least temporarily.
Carnage writes:
This is very emotional matter for me, and it may be for you, too, so I ask that you read this carefully and understand that: 1) this is a temporary situation, 2) Pehrspace is not closing, 3) we are gonna find out more info and if necessary, fight the power.
No Monday shows are cancelled.

But the situation at Pehrspace may be more dire than it appears, as a party last Saturday night was shut down allegedly due to noise complaints.
Tonight's Sean Carnage Monday Nights event, a welcome home bash for DJ Kyle Mabsen (Carnage's right hand man in organizing the weekly shows) has been relocated to DIY space Women, which in recent months has hosted performances from Kawaiietly Please and BIRTH! The June 8 event will take place at The Smell. Carnage, who rents Pehrspace for the weekly parties, will keep bands and fans updated of further developments through his blog.
“Everyone — bands, performers, attendees, other venue owners and bookers — have been so supportive, all coming at me with the same message, 'We don't want Mondays to stop!'” said Carnage in an email response to LA Weekly. “It's been very humbling and I'm really grateful.”
Carnage is a well-loved figure in the Los Angeles underground. For nearly four years, his fetes have featured wildly eclectic line-ups, mixing together electro-punk, hardcore, noise and acoustic sounds with Mabsen's often dance-pop heavy DJ sets. Past shows have featured Abe Vigoda, Anavan, Health, Captain Ahab and more. In 2006, Carnage produced the DVD release 40 Bands/80 Minutes! documenting the Monday Nights scene.
