39-Year-Old Man Killed in Garbage-Truck Crash on Ellsworth Road

MESA, AZ (May 15, 2024) – One pedestrian died Wednesday morning, in a garbage-truck collision on Broadway and Ellsworth Road.

Police officers responded to the scene around 10:00 a.m., on April 22nd.

Reports indicate that a 39-year-old male pedestrian who was on a wheelchair leaned into the street and was hit by a garbage truck. First responders found the man lying in the road with severe injuries upon their arrival.

Despite their life-saving efforts, the male pedestrian was later pronounced dead by medics. Although, police have not yet released his identity. In addition, the driver of the garbage truck stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

Emergency crews shut down the eastbound lanes of Broadway while they cleared the area.

Currently, police are investigating to uncover additional factors that contributed to the pedestrian accident on Broadway Road. Further details will be released as they become available.
