Fatal Pedestrian Accident near Irvington Road in Tucson

TUCSON, AZ (October 19, 2021) – Tuesday morning, an unidentified pedestrian was fatally struck by a passing car on State Route 86.

The collision happened around 5:00 a.m., on the freeway near Irvington Road. Police responded to the scene shortly after receiving multiple dispatch calls.

According to reports, the driver of a vehicle struck a pedestrian on the eastbound lanes. However, further details leading up to the accident remain unclear.

Due to the extent of injuries sustained, the victim was later pronounced dead. At this time, the deceased victim has not been identified.

The eastbound lanes of SR 86 were closed for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties, but the road has since reopened.
