Fatal Pedestrian Collision near Buckeye Road in Phoenix

PHOENIX, AZ (February 22, 2022) – Saturday morning, a pedestrian was fatally struck in a deadly hit-and-run accident on Interstate 17.

The crash took place along the southbound lanes of the highway near Buckeye Road around 5:30 a.m. Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly after.

At this time, the events leading up to the incident remain unclear. However, reports indicate that the driver of a vehicle struck a pedestrian in the area and immediately fled the scene.

Due to the impact of the crash, medics pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. Although, authorities have not yet released their name or place of residency.

The surrounding area was closed off for a brief time during preliminary duties.

Further circumstances surrounding the hit-and-run accident on Interstate 17 remains under active investigation. Once available, more details will be provided.
