Pedestrian Fatally Struck in Deadly Collision near McLaughlin Avenue

SAN JOSE, CA (March 4, 2022) –  A pedestrian was pronounced dead Friday afternoon, following a hit-and-run crash on Interstate 280.

The incident happened around 12:15 a.m., on the southbound lanes of the freeway, just north of McLaughlin Avenue.

For unknown reasons, the driver of an unspecified vehicle hit a pedestrian who was walking on southbound I-280. Upon impact, the driver fled the scene and did not render any aid to the victim.

California Highway Patrol officials arrived and located the pedestrian dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the identity of the deceased victim until their next of kin is notified.

Furthermore, officials closed several lanes of the freeway while they investigated the scene. At this time, police have not released any information about a suspect or a vehicle description.
