Traffic Accident on Road 26 Left 1 Fatality
MADERA COUNTY, CA (July 7, 2023) – Early Saturday morning, one person was killed following a hit-and-run collision on Road 26. On June 17th, at around 12:40 a.m., officers responded to the eastbound lanes of the road where a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle. According to the police, a pedestrian was walking along the eastbound shoulder, just north of Mateo Way, when a vehicle headed north struck the pedestrian. Furthermore, the suspect did not stop to call for an emergency and continued to drive along the northbound lanes. Consequently, the pedestrian was found 7 hours later by passing motorists and they called for emergency responders. Unfortunately, the pedestrian suffered serious injuries and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim was not yet released by the police.
