Female Pedestrian Fatally Struck in Deadly Crash near East 16th Street

NATIONAL CITY, CA (August 15, 2022) – Early Wednesday morning, one woman was pronounced dead after a pedestrian crash on Highland Avenue.

The incident happened around 6:15 a.m., near East 16th Street on August 10th. Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly after receiving multiple dispatch calls.

Following preliminary investigations, police said the female pedestrian was jaywalking on the highway when she was hit by a passing vehicle.

Upon impact, the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. It has not been confirmed if the driver will face charges. Moreover, police have not yet released their name or place of residency.

Meanwhile, crews shut down the southbound lanes of 1600 and 1700 blocks of Highland Avenue for further investigation. In addition, authorities have not disclosed the identity of the deceased victim.
