A wild blaze right on the edge of the Pacific ocean claimed one home and appeared to damage another in Orange County's Sunset Beach this afternoon.
The fire in the 16500 block of Pacific Coast Highway claimed the first home about 5:30, when it collapsed, according to the Orange County Fire Authority.
An adjacent home sparked up, and yet another was saved by firefighters.
The five three-alarm fire started around 4 p.m., according to KTLA News.

No injuries were reported. PCH was closed.
The houses appear to have been built close together.
Update: The Orange County Register reports that the fire flared up about 11:30 last night and ended up damaging three other homes (besides the destroyed one) and causing as much as $10 million in damage.
In fact, the paper says, 15 hours later firefighters were still dealing with flare-ups.
Houses in the area are said to be worth $2.6 to $3.9 million.
