My family and I had the pleasure of attending the 10th anniversary of PAW Patrol over the weekend. My kids have been big fans since they were born. If you haven’t checked out PAW Patrol, here’s a little info on this adorable cartoon and what it’s about.

PAW Patrol follows the adventures of a tech-savvy boy named Ryder and his team of pups who are ready to save the day. Whenever there’s trouble, pups Chase, Marshall, Rubble, Zuma, Rocky and Skye are ready for action, no matter what comes their way. With a mission to work together to keep Adventure Bay safe, no job is too big, and no pup is too small.

In 2010, Spin Master Entertainment set out to create a preschool series rooted in action and adventure. With the goal to create something relatable for young children, while also being exciting and aspirational, their team approached a short list of renowned creators and best-in-class studios in the preschool space asking them to pitch their ideas. Keith Chapman was one of those creators who then presented an idea for Robbies Rescue Dogs. The Spin Master Entertainment team, together with Chapman, workshopped this initial concept, eventually creating PAW Patrol which first aired in North America in 2013.

PAW Patrol airs in close to 180 countries and in 30+ different languages. Here are some fun facts

  • Season 1 debuted on August 12, 2013 (US: Nickelodeon/CAN: TVOKids).
  • The original seven PAW Patrol members include Ryder, Chase, Marshall, Skye, Rubble, Rocky and Zuma with 13 additional members of the PAW Patrol introduced in various seasons.
  • PAW stands for Pups at Work.
  • Each pup is a particular breed of dog with their own unique job.
  • The PAW Patrol franchise starts with the adventurous stories and heroic characters which are then seamlessly transitioned to toys for children to play out their favorite adventures.

PAW Patrol has permeated pop culture with tons of celebrity fans, frequent references on late-night TV, inclusion in SNL skits and even a mention in an Academy Award opening monologue by Jimmy Kimmel:

“Another young actor nominated for the first time is Timothee Chalamet, who looks very dashing tonight. Look at that tux. Are you having fun? This is a big deal. He’s missing PAW Patrol to be here tonight. Don’t worry, Ryder and his team of pups saved the day.”

Keira Knightley jokingly compared her then-toddler Edie’s love for PAW Patrol to “toddler crack” during an interview on The Tonight Show

Ryan Reynolds took to Twitter threatening to sell his kids after an 11-episode binge.

Mila Kunis joined Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show shouting out, “Listen, PAW Patrol, we are in, so if you want to send me some swag, totally cool.”

Serena Williams posted a karaoke-duet rendition of the PAW Patrol theme song that also featured in an interview with her on The Kelly Clarkson Show.
