EDM is coming to prime-time network television, thanks to a new partnership between veteran DJ/producer Paul Oakenfold, L.A.-based production company TV4, and the Fox Broadcasting Company. Together, they are presenting the first Electronic Music Awards & Foundation at the SLS Hotel on April 14. The event will be taped for later broadcast on Fox, at 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 23.

The new award show was announced via a press release on Thursday, which promised that “EMAF” will honor “the early trailblazers and legends of electronic music, as well as the top-trending acts of today.” All the usual awards show hoo-hah will be on display, including a red carpet, award presentations, interviews and “live performances from electronic music's biggest artists.”

Details are still sketchy. There's no word yet on who will host the actual show, or on nominees, performers or presenters. It's also not clear what the “Foundation” part of EMAF refers to, although co-executive producer Paul Duddridge of TV4 said in the press release, “We’re proud to work with the EMAF to raise money and awareness for good causes,” so presumably some charities will get a shout-out during the show.

“I’m thrilled to be a part of an awards show that finally both recognizes and celebrates, on a primetime platform, one of the biggest music genres in the world today,” said Oakenfold, also via press release.
