Malibu is known for its mad views, movie stars and mansions more than anything, but a rare shooting took place in the city by the sea this week.

A 49-year-old man was shot in the chest yesterday morning, a sheriff's official tells the Weekly. He was taken to UCLA Medical Center and was expected to survive, he said.

It all happened …

… yesterday shortly before 9:30 a.m. in the 27000 block of West Winding Way, according to the sheriff's department.

A 27-year-old ID'd as Patrick Leach was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, officials said.

According to the Malibu Times, deputies nabbed him as he was allegedly trying to get away:

A man driving a black SUV was seen leaving the shooting scene shortly before deputies arrived, according to a witness. Deputies later saw the SUV near Kanan and Cornell roads in Agoura Hills and pulled Leach over.

City News Service says the attack might have been the result of a “neighbor dispute.”

Who says Malibu ain't hood?
