It might be the time of year when most of us lay low before the revelry of NYE, but for those who do still wanna get out, we suggest getting your synth on with these two haps from the dark side of dance music.

On Friday, Clockwork Orange has an homage to beloved U.K. dance rockers New Order, highlighting videos and tracks from both New Order and precursor band Joy Division, plus stuff influenced by both. DJ Bruce Perdew also will spin compatible electronic, dark wave and ’80s sounds.

On Saturday, the last Shadowplay party of the year features another tribute night. The shindig, created by the Weekly’s own Liz Ohanesian and Club Underground’s Larry G., will celebrate the music of Fad Gadget, the first artist signed to Mute Records and a synth-pop innovator. Liz will be on the decks with selections running heavy on Gadget’s mastermind Frank Tovey and similar artists such as Human League, Cabaret Voltaire, Love and Rockets, Soft Cell and Tones on Tail.
