Like most of the made-up holidays populating our calendar these days (“Beer Week” is next week, by the way), Friday the 13th is kind of silly, but it's also a great excuse to party. Staying home to watch a hockey-masked murderer kill attractive dimwits on the boob tube just won't do. Far better to cast your superstitions aside…and meet attractive dimwits in person!
Our favorite Friday the 13th fetes include A Club Called Rhonda, always a raging good choice. For the 13th it's bringing to Los Globos another stellar lineup of top-tier international turntablists, including the U.K.'s Ejeca, Dutch DJ fave Tom Trago, DJ Spun, Sammy Bananas and James Del Barco.
Meanwhile, Star Girls returns to the Dragonfly with a Star Wars-themed burlesque show, music, DJ, art, food and more, while Das Bunker's Appreciation and Dance Night is taking over Catch One in Arlington Heights. The club is letting everyone in for free who shows off their DB merch and threads, at least until 10:30 p.m. Guest DJ PNM from San Diego guests in the noise room, while the Bunker beatsmiths break it down in the other two rooms.
Forget scary movies; come out and dance!
