When (and why) did rave steal rock’s thunder? Sad but true: When it comes to spectacle and exciting atmospheres, rock & roll–driven parties rarely go all out the way EDM dance parties do.

This “Rock n’ Roll Circus” aims to change that, creating a wanton world where “big hair meets Burning Man, leather and chains meet sparks and flame.” The circus will offer big-top–style performances, DJs, magicians (Magic Castle’s Andrew Goldenhersh), go-go dancers, body-painted fire performers, aerial silk dancers and — the most novel part of all — actual bands, with instruments and everything!

And they’re good ones, too: Motochrist, featuring members of The Dwarves and Faster Pussycat; Venrez, tourmates with the likes of Alice Cooper and Slash; Richie Ramone, member of the legendary Ramones during their Too Tough to Die era; and arty newbies The Clouds Below, who kicks things off.

The secret party address will be revealed upon ticket purchase; organizers have told us that it’s an aircraft hangar somewhere in Culver City.
