Now that Diplo plays in mega-pop-land with Madonna, Justin Bieber and Beyoncé, his popularity (and, if you believe the haters, his ego) is colossal. But what about his cred? Despite detractors, that seems very much intact, thanks to his label Mad Decent, which continues to break and make innovative dance-music artists around the world.

MD’s annual touring mega-bash known as its Block Party is a chance to show off Decent’s artists and their friends, including Diplo’s own group, Major Lazer, who are as vibrant and sharp and exotic as ever. As for the rest of the lineup: Expect drum ’n’ bass bombast from Belgium’s Netsky, multifaceted dance mania from Paul Devro, shticky flows and wiggy beats from Riff Raff and potent, vox-driven R&B jams from T-Pain.

Rounding out the lineup: Chicago rapper Vic Mensa, Aussie electronic-rock outfit Cut Copy, tropical-house maestros Thomas Jack and Klingande, pop-friendly EDM from TJR and Grandtheft, L.A.-based DJ Jauz and Korean pop princess CL. The latter two have both collaborated with Diplo’s Jack Ü partner Skrillex (not on the L.A. bill but likely to be dropping by for another “surprise” bromantic throwdown with his boy).
