It might be a children’s entertainment venue, but the Bob Baker Marionette Theater has always held a certain subversive appeal for grown-ups. Leave it to bodacious art maven/scene queen Lenora Claire to pull some strings and throw a bash at the L.A. landmark for her birthday.

Claire, best known for her work with the World of Wonder and Pop tART galleries, has thrown some real bacchanals in the past, at the Houdini mansion and the Pleasure Chest, among others.

This event too should have some fun surprises in store. The “Puppetpalooza” will feature Baker’s best puppet shows every hour on the hour, with dance-y and demented DJ sounds in between, by Jason Savvy and The Dead Kennedys’ Jello Biafra. The latter’s moniker may have inspired the libation selections: jello shots from Ludlows Cocktail Co.

Other amusements include magicians from Magic Castle, dancers and balloon artists. Download the crimson-haired hostess’ new app on iTunes for free goodies at the bash.
