“Kawaii” refers to the cutesiest of cuteness in Japanese culture – think Hello Kitty, Harajuku Girls, anime, the frilly, fruity fashionistas, and basically anything so girlie, cheery, colorful, cuddly you want to squeeze it silly.

Rainbows, unicorns, cupcakes, cartoons, candy, and other sickeningly sweet stuff will be on hand at Los Globos for Kawaiiland Saturday evening, melding a shopping event with live music and fashions galore. LA's own all-Asian rocker girls meets K-Pop princesses Nylon Pink will perform live, and Tune In Tokyo will DJ. An adorable time is sure to be had by all.

If you're in the area earlier, pop on down the street to the Silver Lake Arts, Crafts and Vintage Flea Market at Micheltorena Elementary. Yours truly will “flea-jay” (remember the term… we think we're onto something here) spinning a special pre-Mother's Day music mix while you peruse the fun mix of wares and wearables for mom or yourself.
