DRAGONFLY
5610 Santa Monica Blvd., Hollywood, Friday, July 25, 10 p.m., $10, 21+?

Hillbillies and hip kids are rocking’ the same look these days, so we fully expect to see grubby bearded boys and dirty-lookin’ chicks in cut-offs carousing together at the Dragonfly’s new country night, Hollywood Hoedown. Promoter Mr. Cleo is calling it a “redneck fabulous fiasco.”

There’ll be bikini mud wrestling going down (featuring some local yokel named Big Bubba the Hoe Crusher), plus Wild West Burlesque.

But we hear it’s the bands you’ll want to stomp your boots for: members of Calico, Merle Jagger, Ooks of Hazard, Killing Cassanova and “the world’s naughtiest house band,” Dixie Normous. DJ Trans Am will spin country — real country, y’all, not that wimpy nouveau crap. Southern BBQ will be available, too.
