HM 157

3110 N. Broadway, Lincoln Heights, Sat., July 20, all day

Historical Monument 157 — also known as HM 157, an events space in a Lincoln Heights Victorian house — has been holding wild, outside-the-box events for the past five years. This weekend, its birthday party “Mega Extravaganza” offers a great slice of what it's about, while simultaneously raising money to become a nonprofit organization. RSVP-ing for this private celebration and $20 advance donations are requested so they don't have to take money at the door amid the recent crackdown on DIY spaces.

Amusements include kiddie crafts in the afternoon and live performances all day and night by DJ Lonesome Cowboy (Chad Brown), Steer the Stars (Eric Jonasson from Gram Rabbit's new band), Ruthann Friedman, Whispering Pines, Native Fauna, members of Dirt Bird and more. The androgynous opera stylings of Prince Poppycock (you may have seen him on America's Got Talent) headline the lively house party, which takes place indoors and out.
