Galaxy Mission 2

Florentine Gardens, 5951 Hollywood Blvd., Hlywd. Fri., March 22, 9 p.m.- 3 a.m., $10 pre-sale tickets; $15 at the door.

Rave-worthy times have been going down in the heart of Hollywood in recent months, growing/glowing brighter with each event. At Galaxy Mission 2 — billed as a follow-up thank-you party for the first Galaxy gathering — the scene orbits into the neighborhood once again at the underutilized venue known as Florentine Gardens. If you're old enough to remember donning wings at Magic Wednesdays, the name Jason Jay should be familiar: The promoter threw the hump-night shindig back in the '90s, bringing colorful, “candy-raver” crowds and relentless techno and house rhythms out of the warehouse and into a Hollywood Boulevard nightclub (formerly the World and then Ruby, it's now shuttered).

With Plur Promotions at the helm and Jay co-promoting, this 18-and-over, sci-fi-inflected bash promises to recapture the magic with out-of-this-world themed areas, go-go space girls, a photo booth, a “kandi” making area, art and giveaways. Costumes are encouraged, and the lineup includes underground groovers: DarkSiderz, Joseph Francis, Thomas Craver, Jonathan Morning, Toy Soldierz, Select Start, Dee Nasty, Sam Pop, Kinetick, Dave Itz, Item 7, Mike Hruby, Mo$e$ (Demon Dub Records), DJ Inpulse (Orbitradio.FM) and more.
