1770 Glendale Blvd., Echo Park, Sat., Nov. 9, 10 p.m.
When it comes to subversive soirees, nothing comes close to Ding-A-Ling, which was formerly held at Hyperion Tavern but these days is mostly at Echo Country Outpost. The weirdo riot, band mash and dance party helmed by Don Bolles (The Germs, Fancy Space People) offers entertainment and musical amusements that would make SNL's Stefon blush (or maybe cower in fear).
This week, expect a psych trip of epic proportions thanks to guest DJ Bobby Hecksher (The Warlocks) and live bands including '90s shoegaze shamans The Telescopes, enigmatic fuzz junkies White Mystery and, as Bolles calls them, “new kittens on the block” Kat Kong. Mind-numbing analog visuals from Colin Manning add to the euphoric freakiness.
