A party apparently went out of bounds on the 101 freeway near Universal City when a 24-year-old man either jumped out of a bus or was ejected and ended up being fatally struck by traffic, authorities said.

The death on the southbound 101 freeway, north of Barham Boulevard, was reported at 12:24 a.m. yesterday, according to the L.A. Fire Department's Brian Humphrey:

The person was “found deceased,” possibly in the roadway itself, Humphrey said. The death prompted a lane closure, he said.

CHP Officer Monica Posada told City News Service that “for an unknown reason, an individual exited the bus and was subsequently struck by an unknown number of vehicles.”

The Associated Press says the man, however, was “ejected” from the vehicle, attributing that info to the CHP as well.

The man had yet to be identified.
