Face it. Parking tickets in L.A. are a tax, and an unfair one at that.

They'll cost you $63 to $163, depending on when and where you allegedly violate, and they raised $134 million for City Hall in 2011 alone. Taxation without representation? Ever try to fight one of these? Yeah — good luck. And an unexpected, $163 bill for a poor family is a lot harder to swallow than one for a Real Housewife. That's a regressive tax:

An L.A. comedy troop, BowJour, is taking on L.A. parking tickets with a music video titled “Dear Parking Enforcement.”

It's kind of cute, but the overriding story of white, out-of-town kids who came here “pursuing the dream” only to be cut down by sassy black parking ladies handing out $70 tickets is a little tired.

[Warning: NSFW lyrics]:

In fact, if people like that would only stay home, we wouldn't need such strict parking rules, and there would be plenty of spots for the real locals.

In fact … out-of-towners who crowd our streets because they're pursuing their Hollywood dreams deserve parking tickets. They should each get one as they arrive at LAX as a welcoming gift.

That's not a tax. It's a cover charge.
