19-Year-Old Charged after Deadly Crash on Bethany Home Road

PHOENIX, AZ (September 10, 2021) – Monday morning, 19-year-old Pablo Cruz Meza was arrested after a collision on 15th Avenue.

According to reports, Meza was heading east on Bethany Home Road when he drove through a red light on 15th Avenue. There, he struck a southbound Nissan Sentra.

The driver of the Nissan was later identified as 23-year-old Selemawit Negash. She died from her injuries after being taken to a nearby hospital.

Meza told police that he was driving about 40-50 miles per hour and did not see the red light. Police searched his vehicle and found substances in his wallet and throughout the vehicle.

Shortly after, Meza was processed for driving under the influence of drugs. In addition, he currently faces potential charges for reckless manslaughter and dangerous possession or use of drugs.
