Alternative pin-up tattooed beauties, the Suicide Girls, partied it up for their Club Suicide dance party's one year anniversary at the Echoplex on June 5 with guest DJ Scotty20Boy and Erick Neutron on the turntables. If anyone needed an excuse to scarf down a few glazed doughnut holes Friday, National Doughnut Day begged celebration. While dozens of shops offered free pastries on Friday, pastry chef Mariah Swan, at Grace Restaurant used the holiday to show off her doughnut skills. At Grace, doughnuts are treated as seriously as the sauteed scallops, carefully shaped into perfect globes and rings, painted with various delectable glazes, served with warm, rum-spiked milk, or paired with homemade ice cream. Bitchin' wheels and badass ink returned to the Long Beach waterfront with a vengeance June 5-7 as the Ink-N-Iron festival brought scores of tattoo enthusiasts and custom car aficionados together to celebrate the counterculture that combines 21st century cutting edge with mid-20th century stylistic chic. Little Joy brought it home to a sold out crowd at the Troubadour on June 5. Fabrizio Moretti (The Strokes) made it back from his recording session in time for the encore, which brought more shrieks from the already shrieking crowd.
